Deadline is Nearing to Certify Your Transportation Agreement

Districts need to complete Step IV of the Request for Transportation Agreement process by May 30. Once districts have certified their agreements, the process is complete for 2016-17. Check your district’s status here.

Review the instructions and timelines for Step IV to complete the process. (The instructions for Step IV are also listed below.)

3. Click Certify
4. Follow screen prompts
5. Click Submit

Heartland AEA Vans Will Deliver to Your District During Summer Months

Heartland AEA vans will deliver twice a week to each district administration building during the summer months. If you have summer school, professional development programs or intercessions and you would like regularly scheduled deliveries to additional buildings, please email Colleen Miller at colleen_miller@heartlandaea.org.

Schedule-to-date:
  • Twice-a-week delivery to each district administration building runs June 13 to August 5.
  • Twice-a-week delivery will automatically continue to each building that has an extended year calendar.
  • Regular fall van delivery resumes August 8.
Printing:
  • Heartland AEA will contact the district to arrange for special delivery of large printing orders during the summer.

All Districts Invited to Attend the 12th Annual Our Kids Summer Institute

The 12th Annual Our Kids Summer Institute 2016 “Trip the Light” is an opportunity for education professionals to network with their peers, discover new strategies for working with English language learners in Iowa, and learn from national and local experts to enrich their practices for increasing EL achievement.

Registration

Heartland AEA educators are reimbursed $150 for registration via Title III claim form, plus $150 honorarium, for full attendance and participation in the full two-day conference. Claim forms will be available onsite June 17.

Statewide Early Literacy Trainings Planned for August

Educators who have not participated in previous Formative Assessment for Teachers (FAST) or Individual Growth and Development Indicators (IGDI) trainings or individuals who would like to get a refresher on the administration process will be interested in these early literacy trainings scheduled in August.

Iowa STEM School + Business Innovations Conference Coming in June

On June 29 the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council is hosting a conference of business and school leaders interested in building or expanding partnerships. The Iowa STEM School + Business Innovation Conference will highlight best practices going on across Iowa including our acclaimed STEM BEST® (Businesses Engaging Students and Teachers) and STEM RLE (Redesigned Learning Environment) models, as well as others such as APEX in Waukee.

The goal is to equip attendees with the knowledge, connections and resources to build school + business partnerships in home communities. Registration is free! For more information and to register visit the Iowa STEM website.
