Heartland’s Parent & Educator Connection will be hosting the following workshop on September 28 for high school students with disabilities and their families. Transition Times Workshop

Satellite Sites: High School ICN rooms in: Ames, Carroll, Winterset and North HS in Des Moines
Register by September 27, 2010 to receive hand-outs and an action plan.
Families can gain information on planning for successful post-high school experiences in the areas of living, learning and working. Families (including students) and educators of 7-12th grade students on IEPs are invited. The workshop is designed to help families understand the realities of employment for all youth, with a special emphasis on strategies for youth with disabilities. It will discuss the importance of work, the crucial role of self-awareness, career planning and the necessary role that families play in the process.
