Transition Times Workshop to be Held For Students With Disabilities

Heartland’s Parent & Educator Connection will be hosting the following workshop on September 28 for high school students with disabilities and their families. Please pass on this information to those who may be interested. Feel free to display the attached flyer in your schools and around your community.

Satellite Sites: High School ICN rooms in: Ames, Carroll, Winterset and North HS in Des Moines


Register by September 27, 2010 to receive hand-outs and an action plan.

Families can gain information on planning for successful post-high school experiences in the areas of living, learning and working. Families (including students) and educators of 7-12th grade students on IEPs are invited. The workshop is designed to help families understand the realities of employment for all youth, with a special emphasis on strategies for youth with disabilities. It will discuss the importance of work, the crucial role of self-awareness, career planning and the necessary role that families play in the process.
