All public and nonpublic school districts in the Heartland AEA service area are encouraged to send a representative(s) to share their voices, receive updates and network with colleagues around topics related to English Learners and their families. All meetings are from 4 - 5 p.m. at the Heartland AEA Johnston Regional Education Center (6500 Corporate Drive in Johnston). The 2019-20 schedule is as follows:
- Sept. 23, 2019 - Room 129
- Dec. 9, 2019 - Room 123
- Feb. 24, 2020 - Room 129
- May 4, 2020- Rooms 107A & 107B
The Dynamic Screener webinar on May 1 is scheduled at the same time as the final ESOL Advisory for the year. To allow educators of English learners (ELs) to attend the live webinar, the ESOL Advisory Meeting is postponed until May 17, 2018 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. in Room 123 at Heartland AEA in Johnston. At that time, Title III mini-grant recipients will be presenting short oral summaries to explain how purchased materials were utilized to develop language while providing ELs access to the CORE and/or to increase EL parent/family involvement.
All Heartland AEA area districts are invited to send a representative(s) to the quarterly ESL Advisory Networking meetings. Participants identify professional development needs and provide input on Title III support for the school year. They also find out firsthand about mini grant opportunities for implementation in their districts. Meetings are held from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the Heartland AEA Johnston Regional Education Center (6500 Corporate Drive). The 2017-18 schedule is the following:
- Sept. 26, 2017: Room 107B
- Dec. 11, 2017: Room 129
- Feb. 13, 2018: Room 109
- May 1, 2018: Room 107A
