Schools Honored for Creating Safe, Positive Environments
Heartland AEA is excited to join the Iowa Department of Education in honoring 23 of the school buildings in our service area for their implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Educators and staff in these buildings are doing great things to create positive, safe and supportive environments where all staff and students can learn and thrive! FREE PBIS Workshop: Incorporating Early Childhood PBIS Into Your School Wide System
Heartland AEA is pleased to present this free workshop for teachers, associates and administrators of PK-grade 2. The workshop is presented in two modules:
Module 1: Promoting Children's Success: Building Relationships with Children, Families and Staff
This module focuses on the importance of building positive relationships as a foundation for all positive behavior intervention and supports. Participants will learn ways to promote positive relationships within their classroom and schools. Activities and discussions will include building relationships with staff to staff, staff to children, children to children and staff with families.
Module 2: Social - Emotional Teaching Strategies in the Early Childhood Classroom
This module focuses on teaching social skill strategies for PK-grade 2 students. An overview on Early Childhood PBIS Module 2 Targeted social skills will be provided. Participants will come away with an understanding of emotional vocabulary, how to develop and embed to develop friendship skills throughout the day, emotional literacy and problem solving techniques.

It’s That Time Again! Moving Forward with PBIS 2015-16: Day 2
Heartland AEA is offering the second FREE support day for PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports) for this school year on Feb. 8, 2016. License renewal credit will not be available for participants as we will not be able to offer the required 15 hours. The complete description of the day can be found here.

Based on district feedback, Heartland AEA is offering two FREE support days for PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports). Please save the date for Oct. 5, 2015 and April 19, 2016, as those are the two days these supports are offered this school year.
