Register for Celebrating Iowa’s Success Conference

PRESS Senior Literacy Specialist for the Minnesota Center for Reading Research and educator Kathy Patton will keynote Celebrating Iowa’s Success Conference on Jan. 23, 2017, at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. In her keynote, Kathy will share effective components of an intervention and essential elements needed for student growth.

Joining Kathy in the program is Scott Slechta, 2016 Iowa Teacher of the Year, who will discuss the role of a teacher as a reading teacher in all disciplines; how educators teach reading skills for both informational text and literary text, and how the goal as teachers is to instill the love of reading for information and for entertainment.

Celebrating Iowa’s Success is Looking for Presenters!

Iowa's schools are implementing successful reading interventions every day! These efforts are being supported with a symposium to share effective practices in reading interventions. If you would like to share your school’s interventions and/or instructional strategies with supportive data, consider being a part of the Collaborating for Iowa’s Kids (C4K) annual event and share your knowledge and successes with other educators in our state.

Call for Presentations Now Open for One-Day Literacy Event

Does your school or district have literacy successes or interventions you’d like to share with other educators? If so, you’re invited to apply to be a presenter at “Celebrating Iowa’s Success,” a one-day literacy event sponsored by Collaborating for Iowa’s Kids (C4K), a collaborative comprised of the Iowa Department of Education, Area Education Agencies, and Iowa districts.

Applications to present are due Nov. 20.

Registration for the event is due Dec. 18. District and building administrators, reading specialists, classroom teachers and instructional coaches are invited to attend.

Literacy Intervention Event Scheduled Jan. 13

Iowa's schools are implementing successful reading interventions every day! What better way to learn and share effective practices in reading intervention than by attending “Celebrating Iowa’s Success,” a one-day literacy event sponsored by the Collaborating for Iowa’s Kids (C4K), a collaborative comprised of the Iowa Department of Education, Area Education Agencies, and Iowa districts.

This event is designed for district and building administrators, reading specialists, classroom teachers and instructional coaches. Participants will hear:
  • Keynote speaker Amanda VanDerHeyden discuss Return On Investment in education
  • Schools from across the state share successful literacy interventions
Registration is due Dec. 18 and schools with successful literacy interventions are encouraged to apply and share successes with others across the state. Applications are due Nov. 20.
