Nominate an Outstanding Iowa STEM Teacher!


Every day, exceptional STEM educators across the state are helping prepare students for exciting, high-demand careers. Their passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics is shaping the future through generations of Iowans.

Does that sound like a teacher you know? Nominate them today for the 2024 Iowa STEM Teacher Award, sponsored by Kemin Industries!

Now in its 10th year, this award recognizes leadership and dedication that increases student interest in, and awareness of, science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The award is given to one licensed, full-time PreK-12 teacher from each of Iowa’s six STEM regions. For this award, a full-time teacher is defined as an educator who spends at least 75% of their working hours (approximately 30 hours weekly, minimum) in the classroom—both virtually and in-person – interacting with students. Recipients receive $1,500 for their classroom, along with an additional $1,500 for personal use.

The deadline to complete nominations is Oct. 10. Recipients will be announced in January 2024.

Nominations Open for STEM Teacher Award

The Governor’s STEM Advisory Council at the Iowa Department of Education is partnering with Kemin Industries for the 10th year of the Iowa STEM Teacher Award. Nominations opened Aug. 20 and will be accepted through Oct. 10.

The Iowa STEM Teacher Award recognizes one full-time, licensed PreK-12 teacher from each of the state’s six STEM regions whose passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) motivates their students to develop a lifelong interest in STEM fields—both in and out of the classroom. The six selected recipients will each receive an award of $1,500 for their classrooms and $1,500 for personal use.

Any individual can nominate a teacher by visiting iowastem.org/teacheraward-application and completing the nomination form by Oct. 10, at 11:59 p.m. The award recipients will be announced in early 2024. For more information, visit the Iowa STEM website.

Nominations Sought for STEM Teacher Awards

The Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, in partnership with Kemin Industries in Des Moines, has launched the sixth year of the I.O.W.A. STEM Teacher Award and will be accepting nominations through Oct. 4. The award recognizes one full-time, licensed PK-12 teacher from each of the state’s six STEM regions for their passion in motivating students to develop a lasting interest in science, technology, engineering and math both in and out of the classroom. Each of the six teachers selected will receive an award of $1,500 for personal use, and an additional $1,500 for their classrooms. Once nominated, each teacher will fill out an application to be assessed by a panel of judges who will select the six award recipients. Honorees will be announced in January 2020. Nominations Sought for I.O.W.A STEM Teacher Award

Administrators, teachers, counselors, parents, students and other STEM advocates are invited to nominate an inspirational science, technology, engineering or mathematics teacher for the 2016 I.O.W.A. STEM Teacher Award, sponsored by Kemin Industries and the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council.

Formally known as The STEM Education Award for Inspired Teaching, this award is dedicated to honoring one teacher from each of the six STEM regions for their contributions and dedication to STEM education in Iowa. Each winner will receive $1,500, as well as another $1,500 to be used in their classroom.
